Position Summary
We are seeking an energetic, patient, and dependable part time Active Adult Program Assistant to support our Active Adult (50+ community) programming. This role combines transportation, trip leadership, technology class instruction, and participant engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following are examples of primary duties assigned to this position. Other related duties may be assigned.
Administration:

Make reminder calls for upcoming trips, classes, and appointments in a friendly & professional manner - Recommend appropriate equipment, materials, and supplies to support program operations.
- Report accidents and incidents promptly to the Recreation Coordinator.
- Identify, mitigate and report safety hazards or repair needs to the Recreation Coordinator
Programming:

Safely operate a 15-passenger bus to transport participants to scheduled trips and activities - Serve as Trip Leader during outings, ensuring participant safety, engagement, and enjoyment
- Maintain accurate attendance and trip documentation
- Teach technology classes for older adults using curriculum developed by AARP
- Provide patient, step-by-step instruction on topics such as smartphones, tablets, internet safety, email, and social media
- Ensure proper clean-up of MRD vehicles after program use.
- Enforce the safety standards and code of conduct of the Montrose Recreation District.
- Address inappropriate behavior calmly and professionally, notifying a supervisor when necessary.
Position Qualifications
- Ability to perform assigned duties independently or with minimal supervision.
- Ability to supervise adult program participants.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- General knowledge or ability to acquire technology knowledge.
- Previous site supervisory experience or program participation preferred.
- Ability to make timely decisions and accept constructive feedback.
- This work is generally Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Some weekend and evening work may be required. Generally 10-20 hours per week on average.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and/or walk for up to 60 min at time, sit, talk, hear, read, and write. May periodically need to reach, stoop, crouch, or kneel. Employee may be asked to lift/carry and/or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Benefits

Compensation: $20.52 - $25.65 per hour
