General Statement of Duties
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to the public while representing MRD in all interactions. As the CSR, you will serve as MRD’s primary receptionist. This position requires 20-25 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.

Supervision Received
This position reports directly to the Lead Customer Service Representative.

Essential Duties
The following key responsibilities are assigned to this position. Additional related duties may be added as needed:
  • Act as the MRD receptionist, handling incoming calls, assisting walk-in visitors, managing general emails, and directing inquiries to the appropriate staff.
  • Greet and communicate with all patrons entering or exiting the facility.
  • Ensure members check in using the scanner system.
  • Manage point-of-sale transactions and process daily admissions to the Community Recreation Center.
  • Handle membership-related tasks, including purchases, changes, renewals, and cancellations.
  • Provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone, addressing questions and concerns related to front desk operations.
  • Direct phone calls to appropriate departments or personnel.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of MRD’s activity guide, programs, services, facilities, and policies to answer patron inquiries effectively.
  • Assist program participants with registration for activities and events.
  • Support general facility operations, such as managing lost and found items and overseeing equipment checkouts and returns.
  • Balance cash drawers at the end of each shift.
  • Prepare daily receipts for deposit and ensure accuracy for accounting purposes.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive rapport with customers.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Prior experience working with the general public is preferred.
  • Proficiency in cashier duties, including processing credit card transactions, making change, and basic math skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Competency with computers and accurate data entry across various platforms.
  • Excellent customer relationship and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow directions from management and supervisors.
  • Capacity to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and software guides, and write routine reports or correspondence.
Work Environment
The position involves extensive public interaction. Work hours may include seasonal variations, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Physical Conditions
Primary duties may require prolonged periods of sitting or standing. Moderate lifting and primarily indoor work may be necessary.
